Robert Whittaker was initially scheduled to take on Paulo Costa at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.

Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa, who have been paired opposite each other on multiple occasions in the past, failed to meet inside the Octagon once again.

The last time Robert Whittaker competed in Australia was back at UFC 243 in Melbourne where he suffered a stoppage loss against Israel Adesanya.
