2022 has been a year to cherish for the Argentine great Lionel Messi as he was able to achieve his long-lasting dream of winning the world cup.

Lionel Messi by winning the 2022 FIFA world cup has ticked all the boxes on his career bucket list. He has won a total of 7 ballon d'ors and scored 790+ goals for his club/country.

Lionel Messi simultaneously created an off-field record of getting the highest number of likes i.e 72 million on an Instagram post that surpassed the egg image.

Meanwhile, that image has again resurfaced on the internet but for a different reason. Reports suggest that the trophy Messi held in that viral Instagram post was a dummy one.

According to the Argentine newspaper Clarin a fan named Paula Zuzulich informed them that the trophy was fake, she also stated that the FIFA authorities kept on checking the trophy to make sure it wasn't the original one.

She also stated, "Before the World Cup we got in touch with people who make trophies and it took six months to make it. Zurich further claimed that there is a very slight difference between the dummy and a real trophy.

The Argentine captain was initially unaware of the fact that he was holding a lookalike trophy and later got informed by his teammate Di maria that the trophy isn't original.

However later, Messi was finally got awarded the authentic world cup trophy by the FIFA president. He later posted images in which he was seen sleeping beside well-earned goldware.
