J.R Smith's gaffe at the end of the NBA finals costed the Cleveland Cavaliers a likely bucket and instead sent the game to overtime, where the Cavaliers eventually lost. Despite securing an offensive rebound right underneath the basket with seconds remaining, Smith dribbled the ball out instead of shooting.
LeBron James had no explanation for the Cleveland Cavaliers guard, JR Smith's blunder in an overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
After being asked about J.R Smith's mental state on the final play of regulation, James walked out of his post-game press conference.
ESPN's Mark Schwartz asked James: "Well, did he (J.R Smith) think the game was tied or did he think that you guys had it salted away? To this, LeBron immediately replied: "How do I know that?"
Mark continued: "Or did you discuss it all with him at the play ?" James answered: "No they asked me if I'll talk to J.R about I said no already..."
James continued: "I know the tie game we met was down one George Hill went up he made the first one, we got the offensive rebound, you know I thought we we're all aware of what was going on that's my view. So, I don't know which J.R was thinking....", denying the question.
When James said that he didn't know what Mark was asking; Mark repeated his question again. James repeatedly said: "I am not sure.....I don't know his state of mind....."
Mark asked: "Did you know if he (J.R Smith) knew the score?" On hearing this question James stood up from his seat and left immediately.
