However, the fight fans also lost many UFC champions as they retired from the sport in 2022 including Brazilian legend Jose Aldo.

Jose Aldo retired from MMA after his last loss against UFC bantamweight, Merab Dvalishvili. Aldo has a MMA record of 31-8.

Former UFC female strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk after a vicious knockout loss to Chinese MMA fighter, Zhang Weili.

Former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar had a tragic ending to his MMA career as he lost his last three fights and retired from MMA in 2022.

Former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold had his retirement match against Paulo Costa. Even if Rockhold lost the fight he put on an entertaining fight for the fans.

Former UFC bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw announced retirement from MMA after his loss to Aljamain Sterling.

TJ Dillashaw suffered a career threatening shoulder injury leading up to his last fight, which forced him to retire from MMA.
