Luka Doncic is breaking record after record in the NBA in recent times. Just over a day ago, Luka became the first-ever Dallas Mavericks player to hit 60 points in a single game. Before Luka made it his own, Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki held with 53 points. It is no secret that Luka is on another level in terms of ability, but he is the same as the rest of us when it comes to role models.
Luka has disclosed in the past that LeBron James was his idol. This should not be surprising considering the impact The King has had on the beautiful game. The pair have spoken about each other in the past, and it makes us wonder if they are friends off the court.
What do LeBron James and Luka Doncic think of each other?
When reporters asked Luka who his favorite player was, Luka answered “LeBron James” without even hesitating for a second. Doncic entered the league in 2018 and has emerged as one of the best since then. He has revealed that he looks to improve by watching King James do his thing on the court.
Similarly, LeBron appears to be a huge fan of the 23-year-old prodigy as well. During the 2022 NBA All-Star game media day, he said, “I love everything about his game. Love everything about him, the way he plays the game reminds me of the way I play the game. We’re just triple threats, We rebound, we pass, which is the number one thing on our mind, trying to keep our teammates engaged.”

That’s not the only time The King has spoken about Luka and his ability to play the game. Recently, the LA Lakers star revealed that Luka has a “high basketball IQ” and pointed out that he will figure out how to beat double teams, which Luka has been facing very often. The fact that both LeBron and Luka have praised each other on multiple occasions would suggest that they are big fans of each other as well.

However, neither of them has addressed the question of whether they are friends. Obviously, both of them are on different teams, which means they don’t spend a significant amount of time with each other to share memorable experiences. However, it looks like the pair share a few moments and appraisals whenever they meet on the NBA court.
