An Uber Eats Delivery Guy Became LeBron James’ Teammate

Matt Ryan who was a bench player in college had a dream to play in  the NBA.

Matt completed his economics degree from Vanderbilt and began his collegiate career as a Parade All-American, there began his road to the NBA.   

Ryan appeared in 72 games in 2 seasons and later he was transferred to Vanderbilt. He transferred for the second time to Chattanooga, where he completed his collegiate career. 

The 6-foot 7 inches guy worked as a landscaper at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Yonkers, New York, after he went undrafted in 2020.  

Then he worked as a delivery driver for Uber Eats and DoorDash, and he waited for the opportunity to play basketball again.

Finally, his dream started to become true when Cleveland Cavaliers offered him a spot in Summer League 2021.  He scored 26.5 points in 4 games for the Cavaliers.

After the Cavaliers, the Denver Nuggets signed him in 12 games for their G League affiliate, where he scored 12.1 points. He then got an opportunity with the Maine Celtics, which ultimately helped him in a two-way deal with the popular Boston Celtics.

Matt Ryan and Dwayne Bacon were signed by Los Angeles Lakers in September. There started the turning point in his career and his dream to join NBA became successful. Currently, he is playing in the LeBron James team.
