Due to Zion Williamson's knee injury, Nike suffered a loss of $1.1 billion, as the rubber sole of his shoe came out during the match.

It was the worst situation when Zion’s Nike PG 2.5 basketball shoe tore off and since it was his lone season with Duke, his career was partially affected. He sat for three regular-season months after that.

In a rivalry game between Duke University and North Carolina, Zion Williamson got a sprained knee due to a defect in his Nike shoe. As a result, his game ended in 33 seconds.

As soon as he hit the ground, he desperately grabbed his leg before heading toward the locker room. After some time, Duke announced that he would not be able to play the rest of the game.

Just on the next day of the match, it was observed that Nike's stock price dropped by 1%.

Nike, which provided Duke's jerseys, shows, and apparel, released a statement saying they were really worried and wished Zion's speedy recovery.

Nike also mentioned that the performance and quality of their goods were very much crucial to them so they were trying to figure out why that incident took place.

Zion had a meniscus injury which is a damage to the cushion-like tissue in the knee. However, Zion's condition improved after some time, and Nike also succeeded in recovering its lost stocks.
