Michael Jordan Reacts to 3-Time NBA Champion’s Death

The long-time coach, 3-time NBA Champion, and former President of the National Basketball Players Association, Paul Silas died at the age of 79.

Paul began his career in 1980 as a head coach leading the San Diego Clippers, with a 3-year stint. For the next 10 years, he became the assistant and then returned as the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, the Cleveland Cavaliers, The New Orleans Hornets, and the Charlotte Bobcats.

Paula Silas, the daughter of Silas, told The New York Times that Silas died of cardiac arrest on Saturday night. The first report of Silas' death was given by The Boston Globe.

Silas's family announced the sad news on Sunday from the Houston Rockets, where Paul's son Stephen is on the couch.

Michael Jordan, the chairman of Charlotte Hornets said about Paul that in 40 years of Paul's career as a coach and NBA player, he developed a massive understanding of mixing discipline with high positivity.

Michael Jordan said 'Paul was an incredible leader and motivator who served as our head coach on two occasions.

He further added that "On or off the court, Paul's enthusiastic and engaging personality was accompanied by an anecdote for every occasion. He was one of the all-time great people in our game, and he will be missed.'

Among the other players, who showed their condolences was LeBron James who stated that Paul had an "enthusiastic and engaging personality" and was considered one of the greatest in basketball, and his presence has inspired and will continue to inspire many NBA players and coaches.
