There isn't proof regarding the fact whether NBA games are fixed. However, just like any sport, it is subjected to those accusations or claims from people that it is corrupt.

Whenever a player makes a marvelous shot or gives an unexpected performance, that doesn't always mean that referees are giving them an unfair advantage, just to make them win.

There had been many investigations regarding alleged fixing in basketball games, but no concrete evidence of any unfair means has been observed to date.

A betting controversy in NBA exploded back in 2007 when Tim Donaghy was accused of betting and fixing. Many other people who were associated with this also made money.

In 2007 Richard Codey carried out a strict investigation. The FBI investigated the allegations against some referees and other involved members.

As per the charges made public by the FBI in 2007. It was stated that Tim Donaghy gambled on those games in which he officiated, throughout the NBA seasons of 2005-06 and 2006- 07.

On15th august 2007, Donaghy entered a plea of guilty to two federal offenses related to the investigation. After a year, he was given a sentence of 15 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release.

The news came out that Tim's high school friend had gambled on NBA games as per Tim's advice. Tim also disclosed the fact that he was paid $2,000 for every correct selection based on the recommendations provided by him.

David Stern the NBA commissioner had stated in a news conference that Tim's case is an "isolated event". He called the scandal a “wakeup call that says you can’t be complacent.”
