Paul Silas was a former NBA player and coach, quite respected by the basketball community Let us take a look at a few facts you did not know about him.

 Paul Silas played for 5 teams in his playing career; The Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and Seattle Supersonics.

Silas also worked for the same number of teams as a head coach; San Diego, Charlotte, New Orleans, Cleveland and Charlotte again.

Paul Silas was nicknamed Papa Bear due to his size and abilities as a NBA player.

Paul is also the father of present day Houston Rockets coach Stephen SIlas. He also has a daughter named Paula.

Paul Silas averaged a double double for consecutive years with the Boston Celtics. He has managed this feat 7 times in his career.

Paul was a mentor to LeBron James and even supported his initial decision to join the Miami Heat.

 Silas passed away very recently at the age of 79. His daughter revealed that the reason was Cardiac arrest.
