Why Serena Williams Doesn't Celebrate Birthdays And Christmas

The tennis legend Serena Williams will be turning 41 in the coming September.

But Serena never takes part in huge celebrations.

Both Serena and her sister Venus were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses.

The Williams sisters strictly follow the religion's beliefs.

Both of them avoid celebrating glamorous activities.

The religion also prohibits celebrating days like easter. Christmas and birthdays.

In 2015 during an interview with Vogue magazine, Serena said, “Being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to me, and have been wanting to get into it."

Serena didn't host a birthday party for her daughter Olympia when she turned one.

In response to this Serena said that they are Jehovah’s Witnesses, so they don’t do that.
