How did Kobe Bryant’s sleeping habits help him?
When it comes to success, there are several trains of thought and philosophy in this world. Some claim that a lot of it is out of our hands and could potentially be a result of some unseen forces. The Lakers legend never entertained this belief and attempted to seize control of his life through hard work and dedication.
Anyone who has watched a Kobe Bryant inspirational video or heard interviews with other players discussing Bryant will know that he was a one-of-a-kind person. Although Kobe’s ultimate goal was to become the best basketball player ever, he also bore the responsibilities of being a son, father, and husband.
During an interview with Stephen A Smith, Bryant once discussed what his entire sleeping schedule would look like due to his goals and responsibilities. Here is what he had to say.
“I don’t need too many hours of sleep man. I can go on off 3-4 hours…yeah…I normally wake up at around 4:30, 4:30 in the morning and I get ready to workout. You know just past summer I couldn’t run like I normally do, do all the shots cause of my knee. So I’ll get up in the morning and do my therapy. Do weights, things of that nature and I do that about twice, three times a day sometimes you know….”
One can only imagine the determination and willpower it takes to continue training. Especially when going through an injury. Bryant went on to bring his point home by discussing the main benefit of waking up early, “But you know, the key is when you get up that early in the morning, you finish a workout, 12:00, 12:30 whatever, you have the rest of the day to kick it with the fam…Instead of waking up in the middle of the day, you get all those hours.”
Fans already knew that Kobe was a great athlete. However, it turns out that he also did everything in his power to make sure he spent time with his family. It is truly tragic that the world lost the Black Mamba.
