SUMMARY
- Becky Lynch won the Women's World Championship after Rhea Ripley's unfortunate injury.
- However, with several deserving candidates around, WWE may not have taken the right call by putting the belt on Lynch.
On the April 22, 2024, episode of WWE RAW, Becky Lynch emerged victorious in a much-anticipated battle royal to become the new Women’s World Champion. Following a shocking loss to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40, the title win appeared as a redemption for The Man.
While Lynch added the 7th world title to her collection with this victory, the WWE Universe does not seem too thrilled with WWE’s pick.

In this article, let’s take a look at 3 reasons why WWE made a mistake by crowning Big Time Becks as the new champion.
#1. Liv Morgan was the most suitable choice from a storyline perspective
Coming into the Battle Royal, Becky Lynch was not the fan-favorite choice to grab the title. Liv Morgan, who has gained tons of momentum with her revenge tour, was expected to go over in this contest.
Ultimately, it was Lynch who tossed Morgan out last to capture the Women’s World Championship. The decision seems like a major blow to Liv Morgan’s credibility. Despite taking the title off Rhea Ripley by injuring her, Morgan still couldn’t get her hands on the world championship.

The Man’s victory seems like an unnecessary swerve. Had Morgan won this contest, WWE might have had a fresh face to lead them into the post-draft season.
#2. Becky Lynch already came up short against Rhea Ripley
Becky Lynch had no momentum on her side coming into tonight’s Battle Royal. After she was unable to defeat Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania, her chase for the Women’s World Championship seemed to be over. There were speculations that her stay on WWE RAW has ended, with her moving to Friday Nights during the WWE Draft.
The Man had already racked up several victories over the RAW roster while she was building up her feud with The Eradicator. Despite her character being in a strong position, Lynch was unable to put down Rhea Ripley. From a storyline perspective, The Irish Lasskicker blew her chance of securing the gold at WrestleMania itself.
Lynch winning the title right after Ripley’s departure puts her character in a negative light. The decision also undermines the potential of other credible challengers like Liv Morgan and Nia Jax. Moreover, Lynch’s victory also rendered the outcome of her match against Ripley worthless.
#3. WWE repeating the “Charlotte Flair” mistake with Becky Lynch might backfire
With 14 world titles to her name, Charlotte Flair is in a position to break her father’s prestigious record. While The Queen is deserving of this accolade, WWE is guilty of awarding her short title reigns just to enhance her world title stats.
A title victory rarely feels exciting if it doesn’t have a great story attached to it. Unfortunately, Becky Lynch might be going down the same route as her best friend.
With more deserving contenders waiting in line, The Man’s title win feels very underwhelming. It feels like WWE handed the belt to The Man to better her previous accolades rather than following up on an actual story with Liv Morgan.
I understand Becky Lynch is good af but she’s giving big Charlotte Flair energy (not in a good way). Tbh I think the WWE main roster shows need to take a note from NXT and give the women some mid card titles..

The WWE Universe has never appreciated the company forcibly pushing a superstar against their wishes. If the fans don’t find a superstar “their guy“, they shower him with boos and criticism.
The experiment has backfired terribly with Charlotte Flair and Roman Reigns in the past, and the same could turn out to be the case with Becky Lynch.
