SUMMARY
- Manchester City is the on verge of winning the Premier League 4-times in a row.
- However, here are some reasons why Arsenal winning the league would be the best for English football.
The race for the Premier League in the 23/24 season has been very exciting. For the first time in multiple years, the fans are enjoying a three-horse race for the title.
On one hand, there are the challengers Liverpool and Arsenal who have played some great soccer to strengthen their candidacy for the PL trophy. On the other hand, is the champion Manchester City who want to create history by becoming the first English team to win 4 consecutive Premier League titles.

However, it looks like the three-horse race might be well over even before the final matchday. Liverpool has fallen off in recent times, dropping many points in the last few PL games, and can be considered out of the title picture. This leaves us with Arsenal and Manchester City who are giving each other a neck-to-neck fight.
At the end of matchday 36, Arsenal is leading the PL table with 82 points. However, Manchester City who is just one point off Arsenal have played one game less, and thus can effectively win the Premier League title with a 2-point lead, if they do not drop any further points.
However, the general consensus amongst the PL fans is that Arsenal should win the trophy this time. The fans have been pretty bored by seeing Man City win the title every other season and would love to see a change.
Some of them also believe that Manchester City not winning the league in the 23/24 season, can also be very beneficial for the PL itself. And when one looks over the reasons for the same, it looks like Arsenal should really try to win the English first-division title in the 23/24 season.
Arsenal’s victory would end Manchester City’s monopoly on the Premier League
Manchester City’s golden era under coach Pep Guardiola has ushered in a phase of extreme domestic dominance for the club. The club is considered to be the favorite to lift the PL title since matchday 1 of the PL season, which is an unprecedented achievement for any PL title. Even the Manchester United teams of Sir Alex Ferguson, or the Arsenal teams of Arsene Wenger did not exert such dominance in England.
Manchester City has won the Premier League title in 5 seasons out of 6 and is on course to create history again by winning the league this season as well. The only two teams to win the PL since Pep Guardiola took over in 2016, are Chelsea in the 16/17 season and Liverpool in the 19/20 season.
Such dominance has made soccer fans compare the Premier League to the likes of Bundesliga and Ligue 1, where Paris Saint Germain and FC Bayern Munich have enjoyed years of dominance. Man City’s dominance has also raised questions over the competitiveness of the League.
“No body has ever won four consecutive premier league titles..yet” was sighted in Manchester City dressing room 👀

Thus, Arsenal has a bright opportunity to quash the conception that Manchester City is the only team capable of winning the Premier League title. In fact, the team had come very close to ending City’s dominance in the previous season as well but fell short towards the end. It would help the league grow in general, as more fans will turn to watch it due to its sheer unpredictability and competitiveness.
Arsenal’s title victory could also possibly be advantageous for Manchester City as well. The team will then know never to be complacent or comfortable with its opponents and will focus on improving their soccer. This will improve the general quality of soccer played in the Premier League and increase its enjoyability.
Arsenal’s PL title will restore the glory of a great English soccer giant
‘The Gunners’ were considered to be one of the most dominant teams in England around two decades back. The team competed against Manchester United with the two teams having many iconic and fierce title races over the course of time. Arsenal were also the advocates of playing beautiful and possession-heavy soccer that enticed many fans towards the club.
However, since their historic ‘Invincibles’ season in 2003/04, where they won the PL title without losing a single game, Arsenal have rarely had a shot at silverware. Since then they have won multiple FA Cup titles and are still one of the biggest clubs in England. But a lack of Premier League silverware and the guarantee of UEFA Champions League soccer until a few years ago has really hampered the club’s stature.
Thus Arsenal can put an end to their 20-year wait for a Premier League title in perfect fashion in the 23/24 season. The team can not only deliver a PL title to their fans after so long but can also end the monopoly of Manchester City on the Premier League title.

Arsenal’s victory would also mean the restoration of the old guard. It would mean that traditional clubs like ‘The Gunners’ can still win silverware over clubs like Manchester City, who have risen to prominence only recently due to their unmatchable financial backing. Arsenal can inspire a bunch of Premier League regulars to improve their performances and regain their long-lost glory.
Mikel Arteta can change the perception about managers with the victory
Mikel Arteta has grown as a manager a lot coaching Arsenal. The Spaniard has overcome many obstacles to continue at his job and is very close to creating history with ‘The Gunners’ in the 23/24 season. The Spaniard has been the key reason for the growth of Arsenal in the past few years and has impressed soccer fans with his exciting way of playing soccer.
However, Mikel Arteta did not always receive the kind of support from the Arsenal fanbase as he does now. His first two full seasons at ‘The Gunners’ did not yield any significant success for the club, as Arsenal failed to qualify for the UCL in both seasons.
Arsenal’s repeated failures had forced many people to question the qualification of Mikel Arteta. Many Arsenal fans had even started campaigns asking the club to sack Arteta. But, the Arsenal board had full trust in the Spaniard, and instead of sacking Arteta, they gave him all the resources needed to build an elite team.
Their patience has bore fruit now as Mikel Arteta and his players are all set to end the dominance of Manchester City in the Premier League. Other clubs can perhaps learn from the example of Arsenal and Mikel Arteta that bestowing trust in the manager and investing well in the team can really yield the desired results.
A misconception has taken over the Premier League in recent times. The clubs believe that firing managers in quick succession can yield quick results and thus modern-day managers enjoy no job security.
But, the example of Arteta has proved that the clubs should rather stick to one manager and support him throughout, to build the perfect project. Mikel Arteta and Arsenal would hope to lift the PL title this season, to change the unfair treatment that the managers have received for so long.
