WWE has recently been giving a lot of attention to international audiences, as most of the recent PLEs have taken place outside of the United States. Continuing the tradition, the Stamford-based promotion is set to organize its upcoming Clash at the Castle event at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, and the card for the same looks extraordinary.
Both top titles from SmackDown and RAW will be on the line, and a few exceptional storylines will reach their conclusion on the show. Amid everything that will be at stake on June 15’s PLE, the audience is excited to watch what WWE has in store. But these 3 booking decisions at Clash at the Castle could change the landscape of Triple H-led promotion forever.
Chad Gable finally gets his hands on Sami Zayn’s IC Title
The storyline between Chad Gable and Sami Zayn has been running since the build up for WrestleMania 40, as at that time Chad was training Sami to face Gunther. Gable’s help ended up giving Zayn a huge advantage, as he defeated Gunther to win the IC Title. But, after a few weeks, the unthinkable happened, as the former amateur wrestler turned his back on the fan-favorite star.
Since turning heel in Montreal, The Alpha Academy member has been on a roll, and he has done great heelish work. Chad Gable has not even left his teammates in relief, as there have also been signs of friction between the group. But, in the midst of this entire saga, Sami vs. Chad has been made official for the June 15 event, and it could be the perfect opportunity for WWE to reward Gable for the work he has done for the company.
If that happens after some heel tactics by the 38-year-old in-ring star, it would be an even better thing, as it would help him get more heat from the audience. Pulling the trigger on the 5-foot-8 superstar at the PLE in Glasgow is probably the best possible option for the promotion due to a number of reasons. But the biggest one among them is that it is going to change the landscape of WWE forever.
Jacob Fatu’s highly-anticipated WWE debut
Even though The Bloodline is not yet scheduled to compete at the event in Scotland, that can still change through this week’s SmackDown. In fact, even if the faction don’t perform at the PLE, it could end up being the biggest talking point of the event if Jacob Fatu‘s highly-anticipated WWE debut takes place at Clash at the Castle event on July 15.
Fatu reportedly signed with the Triple H-led promotion a long time ago, but he hasn’t yet made his official debut. Reports even suggested that his debut was being delayed due to fear that he might overpower Solo Sikoa’s presence. But, in recent weeks, Solo has given exceptional performances as the leader of the heel faction, and this fear might be over now.
If that’s the case, there’s a huge possibility that Jacob ends up making his first ever WWE appearance at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow in front of a full house. Having him make his presence felt at such a huge show would also help him to instantly get the limelight, and it would also help The Bloodline to get even stronger, and make an even bigger impact on SmackDown.
Drew McIntyre wins/loses the World Heavyweight Championship
You might be getting confused after looking at this headline, but it’s not a typing mistake. In fact, the match between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest is arguably the most important encounter from Clash at the Castle event, not just because of the high stakes, but also due to the importance it holds in terms of the future of the Stamford-based promotion.
As the PLE is going to be in Drew’s home country, the crowd is going to support him heavily, and that’s why he’s the favorite to walk out as the World Heavyweight Champion. But the audience must remember that CM Punk is always a threat for The Scottish Warrior’s dreams of being at the top of the division. Punk previously cost McIntyre the title at WrestleMania 40, and the same could be the case at the July 15 show in Glasgow, Scotland.
If that happens, it could lead up to a future showdown between the rivals. But, if Drew McIntyre somehow manages to win the prestigious title, CM Punk might come for the biggest prize of the red brand. If that happens, it will make this rivalry even more personal, and that’s why it’s safe to say that whether Drew wins or loses, his match at the upcoming event will play a major role in changing the landscape of WWE.
