Dustin Poirier is shocked by Dan Hooker’s toughness
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Dustin Poirier opens up about the aftermath of the grueling battle. Poirier stated:
“I am busted up, man. I actually had a couple of X-rays done this morning. Dan was kicking bone on bone a lot on my lead shin. My foot is swollen like a balloon. My ankle was huge from all the blood running down from my shin. But other than that muscle bruises in my hands, ribs, a little bit of soreness, but I am good.”
Poirier explained that Hooker did most of the damage in the first two rounds. And going into the third round, Poirier was dizzy and banged up. Poirier continued:
“Early in the fight. I don’t think anything is wrong with it. It’s just precautionary. Cause it’s so swollen, busted up and it’s so tender. But early in the fight, I had my legs compromised with those shin kicks. Who the hell throws shin kicks. Usually, you damage the soft part of the body, like inside of the thigh, outside of the thigh, claves. Who does go shin on shin, man? The only person who has ever done that is Eddie Alvarez in the second fight. He went shin on shin twice but then stopped. Because it’s damaging you as well.”
